Therapeutic Laser Overview
Zavitz Chiropractic and Therapeutic Laser Clinic is proud to offer the residents of Welland and Niagara region innovative laser treatments. Using the state of art Theralase® laser, Dr. Zavitz provides a natural and effective pain relief therapy.
Since implementing laser therapy in 2006, our patients’ results have been remarkable. Most patients experience noticeable relief in only 4 to 6 treatments. Ninety percent have experienced satisfactory pain relief in 12 to 16 treatments.
Theralase® provides patients with a safe, effective and painless therapy that uses the body's own natural healing systems to relieve pain, increase joint mobility, increase tissue integrity and promote cell regeneration. It's known as a treatment for both acute and chronic pain conditions. Within a short period of time, patients who have been incapacitated or restricted by pain for years regain the active and healthy lifestyles they knew before their injury or illness occurred.
Healing at the Speed of Light
Therapeutic Laser Biological Effects
Therapeutic lasers work by supplying energy to the body in the form of billions of photons of light. The body absorbs this laser light on a cellular level and transforms it into chemical energy, which is then used to commence tissue repairs. The bio-stimulating effect of laser therapy causes a decrease in inflammation and pain as well as an increase in tissue regeneration and healing.
Rapid Cell Growth
Laser light accelerates cellular reproduction and growth.
Laser light stimulates tissue repair at the cellular level, resulting in accelerated tissue healing.
Increased Metabolic Activity
Laser light creates higher outputs of specific enzymes, greater oxygen and food particle loads in blood cells, thus greater production of the basic food source for cells.
Reduced Fibrous Tissue Formation
Laser light reduces the formation of scar tissue following tissue damage from cuts, scratches, burns, or post-surgery.
Laser light reduces swelling caused by bruising or inflammation of joints to give enhanced joint mobility.
Increased Vascular Activity
Laser light increases nutrient delivery to damaged tissues through increased blood flow.
Stimulated Nerve Function
Slow recovery of nerve function in damaged tissues can result in "dead" limbs or numb areas. Laser light speeds the process of nerve cell reconnection to bring numb areas back to life.
Successfully Treated Conditions
Using laser therapy treatments, patients have experienced relief from a wide range of painful conditions. Consider laser therapy if you suffer from:

Laser Smoking Cessation Overview
The term LASER is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. At the clinic, we use a leading laser therapy system known under the name Theralase®.
Laser treatment is the application of a non-invasive laser beam to specific energy points on the body. This is a completely drug-free, non-invasive, safe and painless procedure. The laser treatment session lasts 40 minutes. Although, most patients require only 1 session, occasionally, a patient may feel they require a booster treatment.
The smoking cessation laser treatment is a modern method of therapy. The laser simply converts electrical energy into a form of light energy that is transmitted to the patient by means of specially designed probes. Low power lasers do not generate heat, therefore, when the laser contacts the skin, the patient experiences no warmth or burning.
How It Works
We are using the laser on energy points to help promote the release of neurotransmitters, such as endorphins, serotonins and dopamine, to help smokers deal with their withdrawal symptoms.
During the treatment, most people feel nothing other than a sense of relaxation. The laser procedure involves the application of the probe to energy points on the ears and limbs. When these specific points of the body are stimulated with the laser, it promotes the release of these neurotransmitters into the brain, which results in a calming effect on the body.
Endorphins, a specific neurotransmitter, are one of the body’s own painkillers, an opioid (morphine-like) chemical produced by the body that serves to suppress pain and assists in keeping the body calm and relaxed. The patient experiences a feeling of euphoria and well-being that helps to dramatically reduce the withdrawal symptoms, irritability and cravings, which come with quitting addictive tendencies such as smoking.
What the Program Involves
Addictions involve both a physical and a psychological component. Our smoking cessation programs address both components by using a state-of-the-art laser therapy system to address the physical component of the addiction and counselling guidance to address the psychological component.
The counselling guidance involves practical advice that helps to support the individuals’ efforts to remain a non-smoker.
